Our technology
Protection, engineered differently.
Designed with high-performance lattice structures, the Phoenix Shield absorbs and disperses energy by momentarily stiffening on impact. Once the fall is over, it resets instantly, ready to protect you again whenever you need it.
Inside the shield
Soft enough to flex. Strong enough to matter.
The open-lattice shield is engineered with impctLAB and 3D printed by Carbon. It bends with you during everyday movement, then manages impact when needed.
Engineered for comfort and protection
Barely there, until it matters.
- Light – so you barely notice it’s there
- Thin – discreet, low-profile protection
- Flexible – moves with you for unrestricted mobility
- Breathable – keeps you cool and comfortable
Unlike traditional bulky and uncomfortable hip protection, we’re redefining safety with 3D-printed impact protection, designed with love in the US.
Ultra-thin, ultra-light
At just ⅜ inch (10 mm) thick and under 2 ounces (55 g), each shield is designed for discreet, comfortable wear. Slip them under leggings or everyday clothing without the bulk of traditional hip protectors.
Stay active with confidence
At Phoenix Hipwear, we believe in empowering your active lifestyle. You’re not old and frail, and you don’t need hip protection all day, every day. But if you have osteoporosis or low bone density, a fall could put you at risk of a hip fracture.
That’s why wearing hip protectors during higher-risk activities, like hiking, biking, skiing, tramping or pickleball, gives you an extra layer of protection and peace of mind. If you take a fall, you’ll have a better chance of getting back up and continuing to do what you love.

Biomechanical testing
Tested with impctLAB and Carbon.
Phoenix Hipwear partnered with impctLAB and Carbon to develop the Phoenix Shield. A comprehensive design and engineering process included extensive testing against the performance requirements.
In the drop-tower test shown below, force is generated by dropping a weighted anvil onto a force plate, measuring how much of that force the shield absorbs. The shield demonstrated a 64% reduction in impact force in lab testing.

Real-world results
364 falls. Zero hip fractures.
Over 12 months, Pegasus Senior Living gave Phoenix Hipwear to more than 140 residents across its memory care communities. Every fall was recorded: 364 in total, with no hip fractures in any reporting period.
“We are pleased to offer Phoenix Hipwear to our residents and families as a critical part of our falls program.”
Results from one 12-month program in memory care communities. No product can guarantee a fall won’t cause an injury.
